How to Read a Sankey Diagram:


1. Identify Sources and Destinations:
Inputs are usually on the left, and outputs on the right.

2. Follow the Width of Flows:
Indicates the amount of energy each source contributes to a sector.

3. Trace the Flow Paths:
Follow the arrows to see how resources move from one category to another.

4. Read Labels and Units:
Labels provide details on quantities, categories, and units for better understanding.

5. Analyze Splits and Proportions:
Observe how the total flow is divided among different sectors or categories.

6. Look for Losses or Feedback Loops (if present):
These are often shown as smaller arrows leading out of or looping within the system.

This method helps visualize complex systems, such as energy distribution, efficiently.
